Internship Program Overview:

UNDP operates in 170 countries with over 17,000 individuals, focusing on addressing global issues such as extreme poverty, climate change, good governance, renewable energy, crisis prevention, and women’s empowerment. In recognition of the transformative potential of digital technologies, UNDP has been undergoing a comprehensive digital transformation since 2019. This transformation aims to harness the power of digital innovations to create a world where technology serves as an empowering force for both people and the planet.

UNDP’s Digital Strategy 2022-2025 endeavors to utilize a rights-based approach to digital technologies, enhancing development outcomes and fostering inclusive digital ecosystems globally. This internship offers a chance to contribute to this transformative agenda while gaining invaluable experience and skills.

Application Details:

The internship offers flexibility in start date and is open for applications on a rolling basis until September 30th, 2024. Successful applicants may expect to hear back between April 1st and the end of 2024. Please review the application instructions carefully to ensure completion.

Internship Responsibilities:

Interns will have the opportunity to support UNDP’s work across various workstreams, including but not limited to:

  • Inclusive Digital Ecosystems
  • Country Office Support & Capacity Building
  • UNDP Digital Strategy Development & Implementation
  • Business Operations (People Operations & Procurement)
  • Communications
  • Thought Leadership, Engagement, and Partnerships
  • Product Design, Build, and Management (including AI tools)

Competencies:

Interns are expected to demonstrate competencies such as achieving results, thinking innovatively, continuous learning, adaptability, determination, engagement and partnership, and enabling diversity and inclusion.

Required Skills and Experience:

Candidates must meet educational requirements and demonstrate interest/experience in one of the workstream areas.

Applicants are required to submit a brief cover letter in English, a current and complete CV in English, and complete the provided form in addition to submitting details via the UNDP vacancy link.

Additional Information:

Selected applicants will be required to provide various documents, including a letter from the university confirming enrollment, letters of recommendation, transcripts, passport and visa copies (if located in the USA), and medical certificates.

UNDP Internship Policy:

Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend depending on the duty location. Other expenses connected with the internship will be borne by the intern or sponsoring institution. Interns are not considered staff members and may not represent UNDP officially.
