The Fund Internship Program (FIP) at IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C. offers a paid summer internship program for 10 to 12 weeks between June and October. Job Description:

– Previous research topics include inflation dynamics, digitalization, diversification, poverty reduction, credit cycles, innovation policy, and more
– Legal Department also offers internships on legal framework for capital controls, insolvency of non-bank financial institutions, effectiveness in AML/CFT efforts, and more
Responsibilities:
– Research and analyze current issues related to IMF’s member countries and global economic stability
– Work closely with experienced IMF colleague on research project
– Present results of work to IMF staff and may have work published by IMF

Eligibility Criteria:
– Concentrated studies on monetary and international economics, public finance, financial markets, economics, or related field for economic internship
– Strong analytical and quantitative skills
– Excellent command of written and oral English
– Currently completing a master’s or PhD program
– Below age of 32 at start of internship for PhD candidates
– Below age of 28 at start of internship for master’s candidates
– Within one to two years of completing LLM, JD, or equivalent advanced degree in law for Legal Department internship
– Below age of 32 at start of internship for Legal Department candidates

For the Legal Department internship, applicants must be within one to two years of completing an LLM, JD, or equivalent advanced degree in law and below the age of 32 at the start of the internship.
