Job Description:
The intern will be supervised by the Coordinator for Universal Health Coverage and will be responsible for reviewing existing communication platforms, tools, and content, updating UHC-related information on WHO platforms, suggesting new innovative ways to communicate, organizing data and documents, and assisting in preparatory work for events. The intern will also participate in on-going departmental projects.

Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for reviewing communication platforms, developing a plan for improved UHC communication and knowledge sharing, updating WHO platforms, suggesting new innovative ways to communicate, organizing data and documents, and assisting in events preparation. Moreover, the intern will participate in on-going projects.
Criteria:
To be eligible for the internship, the candidate should have completed three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution and be enrolled in a course of study at a university or equivalent institution leading to a formal qualification in a field related to communications with a focus on information technology, online communication, and social media. The candidate should have experience in coordinating events, proven track record of good administrative skills and multi-tasking, research and drafting reports, and expertise in English, among other UN languages.
Requirements:
The core competencies required for the role include team work, individual and cultural differences, communication, communicating effectively orally and in writing, willingness to learn from mistakes and producing and delivering quality results. Additionally, interns need to be familiar with commonly used computer programmes such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and specialized computer programmes such as HTML, JavaScript, and SharePoint.
Analysis:
The UHC Strategic Communication internship offers an enriching and challenging learning experience focused on UHC communication and knowledge sharing. The intern will gain a comprehensive understanding of the UHC concepts and principles and the vision, mission, objectives, and mandate of the World Health Organization in general and the Western Pacific Region in particular.
Through data collation and analysis, the intern will learn how to prepare comprehensive internal and external communication for health plans involving various stakeholders at different levels. The internship duration is from 23 May 2023 up to 20 July 2023, and interns will not receive a salary but will be provided with a living allowance and accident and medical insurance coverage.
The internship is a highly competitive programme, and interns are not eligible to take up a consultant or other non-staff contract in WHO for three months after completing the internship. The role requires expertise in English and familiarity with commonly used computer programmes.
