African Union Internship Program 2024

The African Union (AU) is inviting applications from citizens of Member States for its Internship Program, based at its Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Established to spearhead Africa’s integration and sustainable development, the AU emphasizes values such as diversity, teamwork, transparency, and professionalism.

Purpose of the Internship:

The AU Internship Program offers a valuable opportunity for interns to enhance their professional skills and gain hands-on experience in various fields. Interns will work full-time, engaging with diverse teams and contributing to the implementation of AU programs. The program aims to expose participants to the inner workings of the AU and foster personal and professional growth.

Focus Areas:

Interns will assist in providing administrative and technical support across various departments and directorates, including but not limited to Agriculture, Economic Development, Education, Health, Human Resources Management, and Information and Communication.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Actively enrolled in at least the final year of a Bachelor’s degree program or possess a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a related field
  • National of an AU Member State
  • Fluent in at least one AU working language (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese)
  • Age not exceeding thirty-two (32) years at the time of selection
  • Demonstrated moral conduct and integrity
  • No prior convictions of serious criminal offenses
  • Prior work experience not required

Terms and Conditions:

  • The AU does not provide financial support for interns, including travel, accommodation, or living expenses
  • Interns will be responsible for obtaining necessary visas
  • The internship is for a duration of three (3) months, renewable once
  • Interns must have individual insurance coverage throughout the internship

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in at least one AU working language
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

  • Commitment to work and integrity
  • Harmonious collaboration in diverse teams
